International Social Housing Festival

The Housing First Europe Hub will be participating in the International Festival of Social Housing in Dublin from the 4th to the 6th of June!

Join us for two engaging workshops where we’ll explore key topics and share insights on Housing First implementation across Europe:

  • Innovative housing and support for young people – a place to call home

This seminar will spotlight innovative practices to support young people into their own homes in Ireland, Scotland and elsewhere in Europe. A Supported Housing for Youth (SHY) pilot was committed to under the Government’s Youth Homelessness Strategy 2023-2025. Following a tendering process, Clúid Housing was selected as the housing provider with Focus Ireland as the support provider.  The intention is to eventually expand the pilot across Ireland.

The Housing First Europe Hub helped Rock Trust to establish a very successful Housing First for Youth pilot project from 2017-2019. Rock Trust worked with partners in Scotland to expand their stakeholder network and build on the Housing First for Youth approach across the country.

Presentations of the Irish and Scottish initiatives will be followed by a discussion with Clúid, Focus Ireland, the DRHE, the Housing Agency, Rock Trust and the Housing First Europe Hub. Topics would include why these stakeholders chose to get involved, the benefits of the partnership model, initial learnings from the pilot, Scotland’s work to bring these ideas to a wider set of actors and insights from European examples.  Participants will have ample time for questions and to reflect on the possibility of such a pilot in their contexts.

  • Housing acquisition for Housing First programmes – best practices

The Housing First Europe Hub, founded in 2016 by the Y-Foundation (Finland) and FEANTSA, collaborates with over 45 partners, including cities, government bodies, housing providers, and researchers, to advance Housing First as the primary approach to ending homelessness. The Hub focuses on fostering systemic change across Europe through capacity building, advocacy, research, and the sharing of expertise. One area of support is housing acquisition for Housing First programmes, where the Hub provides practical resources, guidance, and examples of effective strategies to help organisations secure adequate housing.
