From Streets to Homes Association in Budapest is using participation to improve homelessness services for women through women-only support groups developed with funding from World Habitat’s Innovation Fund. The initiative creates safe, inclusive spaces where women with lived experience of homelessness can share their needs, build peer support, and inform service development.
The groups have been particularly important for women facing severe isolation, including those displaced from Ukraine, helping to foster community and trust. By combining peer support with professional engagement, the project has strengthened women’s confidence and generated lived-experience evidence that is now being used to advocate for improvements in policy and practice in Hungary.
