Alex Osmond, Housing First Policy Manager at Cymorth Cymru, reflects on lessons in what works for Housing First, drawing on recent international discussions shaped by the Oak Foundation–funded film Beyond the Bridge and a Housing First Europe Hub Partnership Event in Lyon.
Through these experiences, he explores shared challenges facing Housing First across different contexts, including limited housing supply, resourcing pressures, and the need for sustained political commitment and stronger cross-sector collaboration.
Within the article he also highlights innovative practice responding to these challenges, while offering a timely reflection on the importance of maintaining Housing First as a housing-led approach, alongside deeper integration with health, justice, and other sectors.
