About the Speakers:

Teresa Consoli is Associate professor of Sociology of Law, University of Catania. With Antonella Meo she edited the book Homelessness in Italy, Franco Angeli, 2020 and contributed with Caterina Cortese to the chapter on « Homelessness in Italy” for Routledge Handbook of Homelessness (eds) J. Bretherton and N. Pleace, Routledge 2023.

Giuseppe Dardes is trainer and coordinator of HFI – the Italian Housing First community for fio.PSD.

fio.PSD was formed in the mid-1980s through a spontaneous and informal aggregation of social workers involved in the fight against homelessness, and it was formally established as a Federation in 1990. The principles and methods of Housing First were introduced in Italy by the Federation in 2014, which initiated a process to support the first Housing First pilot projects. The aim of the course was to spread a new culture for a sustainable and inclusive social living, aimed at overcoming the problem of homelessness through innovative and experimental solutions that use the principles of Housing First. Additionally, fio.PSD promoted the establishment of the Housing First Italy Network, established in March 2014 in Turin.

This presentation will be followed-up by a discussion that will allow you to exchange insights and ask questions with fellow attendees!
