TRAIN THE TRAINER

This annual programme is designed to provide participants with essential knowledge and understanding of Housing First, as well as the practical skills required to develop and deliver training in their own language and context. The programme includes in person, residential training sessions and online components.

Our goal is to grow our pool of Housing First trainers who can deliver high quality Housing First education to a wide range of actors across Europe and beyond.

Our curriculum is based on the Housing First Europe Guide (which is available in multiple languages here), and focuses on how to design and deliver HF training to a wide range of audiences, including housing providers, frontline workers, decision-makers, governments, funders, etc.,

Over the course of the year, the cohort of trainers meets for multi-day in person sessions as well as online for classes and mentoring sessions.  Upon completion of the Train the Trainer course, trainers will be equipped to deliver HF training, support their colleagues to develop training courses, and have the opportunity to connect and share resources with other HF Hub trainers across Europe and beyond.

Session 1 (3 days – early spring – in person – in Brussels or another location in Europe) – introduction to training on HF; training methodologies, initial planning for personal projects; connection with your personal training mentor;

Session 2 (online – late spring) – half-day tailored training on how to design and deliver interactive online HF training to a wide range of audiences.  Delivered by Housing First Europe Hub colleagues in Europe and Australia;

Session 3 (3 days – early summer or autumn – in person – hosted by HF Europe Hub partner – city to be confirmed) – understanding and teaching the Housing First approach; working with different support approaches, including trauma informed practices, staff well-being, and harm reduction;

Session 4 (3 days – autumn or winter – in person – Budapest, Hungary) – systems-wide Housing First, masterclasses on Housing First for Youth, and other topics, and final presentations of personal training projects.

Who is this course for?

The course is designed to for people who will have an opportunity to teach colleagues, funders, decision-makers, front-line workers, managers, etc., about how to implement Housing First.

Participants will acquire the skills and confidence to effectively share knowledge and foster learning about the Housing First approach within their own organisations and communities.

The video on the right is a snapshot from our Train the Trainer programme in 2023 – in Budapest, Hungary.  This video show how participants collaborate, exchange ideas, and put theory into practice, highlighting the interactive and hands-on approach that makes the Train the Trainer experience so impactful.
